Music Pump is a feature rich Android DAAP Client that lets you to stream and sync music from your PC or NAS to your android device. All you need is a DAAP Server.

Following servers have been tested: rhythmbox, mt-daapd, firefly, tangerine, forked-daapd. Many NAS devices have a built-in DAAP server. (Sometimes DAAP is called iTunes Music Sharing)

Features:

* Caching the database index locally for faster access to the music. The index only needs to be refreshed if you added new music to the library.

* Should have no problem importing large music libraries ( > 20'000 songs)

* Songs, albums and playlists can be downloaded in the background and will be added to a local playlist which will show up in the playlist section of many music players.

* The application has an offline mode feature to play your files on the sd card

* Cover Art support: Covers are loaded from the id3 tags and/or from the last.fm website

* Custom UI for Android Tablets

* Control music playback from your bluetooth headset buttons and from inline headphone remotes

* Basic Homescreen Widget

* Supports last.fm scrobbling using simple last.fm scrobbler

* Lockscreen player control in some custom roms (e.g MIUI)

* Playback stops on incoming calls, headset removal or when another media player is started

I would have given it 5 stars, except that the app cowardly refuses to play local music without an internet connection. I get an error about not being able to verify the license. So, if you're always connected - this is way cool. Using it to retrieve songs from my iTunes server for a road trip - not so cool once we were on the road.

really needs an update. 4 stars because it is the only daap client for android i have had success with, but for what I paid to take that risk to find out if it would work or not on top of it not having been updated in over 2 years. i have figured out how to make it work for me but it is a pain in the ass sometimes. still the best daap client for droid though

Plays wrong files, try to connect 5 times to finally succeed, take a long time to download music files despite them being very light and my connection being excellent. I would ask a refund if I could. Sincerely regret buying that stuff.

I use it for my itunes server on Dlink 320L NAS. works perfectly. Dont need PC to play music from my music library anymore. Also, It searches NAS server automatically. Great UI.

The app itself is amazing. >>> The demo is problematical, because one can spend time trying to figure out why the app isn't working - after all its only seeing HALF your songs - and only after researching the bug, you find it's not a bug but a demo limitation. >>> Just recently, I started having problems with songs that are of the genre Chillout (number 154 in ID3).... When listing by Genre, some Chillout songs are listed as being of genre "Chillout", some listed of genre "(154)", and a few of genre "154". Would be nice if things just *worked* ... >>> Turns out the company that wrote this software (Posterous) was bought by Twitter then shut down. So no updates or bug fixes are coming.

Works well and fast, but interface leaves much to be desired.

Used to work good but now constantly crashing. Needs updating.

Works great on phone and tablet. Firefly stream and local files.

Simple and works. But no auto-discover (you have to specify the IP address of the server), no .m4a album art, .mp3 album art created with iTunes doesn't always work. Not terribly compatible with iTunes, then. Works well with Firefly. Supports now playing queue. Supports playlists, but sorts them into artist order. Not terribly useful. Who wants all their Abba tracks together at the beginning of a playlist? Update: I changed my router (to a well known TP-Link model) and now the app will not log on to the Firefly libraries which worked before.

Just installed this yesterday and it seems to do what it claims. Good job. Going on the tube each day where connection is bad I could do with an option to set buffer length.
