Indeed the series is cryptic or somewhat similar to code breaking as some users described it. It is not necessarily a bad thing since I spent more time thinking than randomly testing things out. I was impatient with one of the installments, used the hint twice and finished the game quickly then complained it was too short. That was wrong. Being patient gave me the best experience which is what I recommend. You will figure everything out eventually without any need of help.
