Hina is an application built using the Maramataka phases of the moon. With Te Reo Maori as the default language for each phase, see what Maori have used for generations as a guide for planting, fishing and living. Hina brings an interactive approach to looking at the moon and determining appropriate times for performing many of the basic necessities. Hina was created to be used as a guide with other language names for the phases of the moon. Polynesia in general has deep ties with ancestors who used the phases of the Maramataka to navigate their way through the year and survive based on what they knew as a way of life. Hina is a project that will continue to evolve as a resource to help Maori and those interested see how ancestors used the Moon.

I have had the app 'Maramataka'...exact same icon but better content for about 3 years. It has suddenly disappeared and I am left with this...'Hina' which is completely inferior.I used to be able to use an upward swipe to see what each phase means...gone! Also used to be able to use a calendar to identify what phases lie months ahead...or behind...gone! Also why is the word 'Maori' used without the macron...is it a non-Māori maker? The language certainly makes it seem so. Very disappointing.

Impossible to get the info about the current moon phase to show up except randomly by accident. Super frustrating to use. No clear instructions.

I love the concept of this app! Unfortunately, there was a bit of a glitch in my download and the background graphic of the maramataka phases appears white, so I can't read the text. :/ I'm operating on Android on a Huawei Mate 10.

Disappointing no one has corrected the moon phases. Regularly the moon phase is incorrect, it says tonight is Oturu when it is Rākaunui. The last time the app declared it was in Whiro phase you could clearly see the return of Hina in the sky so it couldn't possibly have been Whiro.

Excellent app, use it regularly, as a reminder of the best times to sow seed, plant and wananga. However it urgently needs to be updated, as shows today as Rakau-nui......

I've had this app for a while now. Great information on day by day maramataka. Not much else to it, but you can set it in te reo Māori or te reo pākehā which is choice

Finally an app that is embracing polynesian culture. However, would love to see it over set as a homescreen and language to suit each culture, hence why the 3 stars. please improve

He mea pai tēnei! The tohutō or macron feature needs to be corrected as macrons appear in the wrong place and even on English words. Suggestions to further develop could be to I corporate the Maori months at the appropriate time and te matahi o te tau, Māori new year, setting and rising of Matariki as well. I love this app and often refer to it.
