Hidden annual fee doubles "freedom" plan price for a one-off use. Somehow, syncing received messages from the device to a phone app is less reliable than between the device and a satellite. App frequently isn't aware of new messages and perpetually displays some sent messages as still in the sending state.

Use ONLY for typing messages. The syncing of recieved messages is horrible. Read the messages on your actual device. If you have an Inreach Mini then this app is WAY better than trying to type on the device. So it's worth it just for that. Bit other functions are flaky. This app used to work much better but it seems like it's no longer well maintained.

All in all a horrible app. If you download maps for offline use the app crashes more than it works. If you only use it for messaging, the app has to be forced closed and reopened most of the time to get new messages off inreach device. This app if designed properly could really enhance it's inreach devices capabilities but after reading other reviews it seems as if the app is just a selling point that they abandoned after device is sold.

Do not use. We sent SMS and email to multiple contacts while our car broke down in the field. Garmin messages never arrived or Failed to send messages, despite in app confirmations that they did. I verified my account was in good standing with Garmin. The rep advised not to worry because the SOS system works on a separate system than the messaging. Not acceptable.

The Inreach is amazing hardware, but some of the worst software I've ever encountered. More than 50% of messages received by my Inreach never show up in Earthmate. Oftentimes Earthmate will incorrectly think a message hasn't been sent, and resend it up to 10+ times, using up my quota and annoying the recipient. The very worst is when Earthmate claims a message has been sent, but the recipient never gets it. What if that were an emergency? Can't believe I pay so much for this service. Looking forward to putting my Inreach in the trash bin when another company comes out with a product that's actually reliable.

Map selection and ability to download for offline use to sd card is nice except the app is unstable and crashes frequently or you have to wait a long time for it to open. Used to really like this but it needs testing with newer devices as it has become unreliable and since the inreach mini is cumbersome to use on it's own for messaging, you need to use this app and it's frustrating. The inreach mini also needs a better gps chip... it's aquisition and tracking is poor.

The app is fine but the map selection is terrible for my location. There are other available maps online that are much better. Please update and introduce better maps.

This is probably the worst app I've ever used. It doesn't let you browse logged data, only shows very limited statistics for all saved tracks, statistics of the last track are all zero and others are nowhere to found. You can't even export .gpx from the app. What a garbage.

I absolutely hate that I can't add another inreach contact through the app, or see my inreach address in the app. This is something that should be easily doable in the app or on the device without internet access.

No way to send a pre-configured message. Why? There is way more configuration options and functionality available on the device. Not all of it is available in the app which makes it PITA to use.
