Ever since the newest 'update' to 5.3.9, the app has lost the ability to take a photo of different colours and use that in custom! I strongly suggest that you do not update the app if you are still running an older version!

With or without the new design, the app is pathetic. It's the worst example of what a web-app can be like. 1) It does not work without obligatory location access. 2) It never saves any info and has to recognize speakers from scratch upon every launch. The recognition process itself is highly unreliable. 3) Setting changes may take multiple tries before they actually work. Conclusion: JBL, investigate the way companion apps by Samsung, Microsoft, Bose, Bowers & Wilkins etc. are made.

The app is more complicated and more complex than it ever needs to be. There are too many graphics that are meaningless. It confuses more than it informs and leaves you with more questions, than answers.

App detected speaker and updates firmware, but it is very very slow (transferring over Bluetooth is slow, but not this much). Not much features what what else do we need? /// Many other users leave 1 star because it doesn't detect their speaker, wonder if real issues or just fake/clone speaker under jbl label.

Speakers used in stereo mode need to setup each time of use. The manual says this setting is stored for next use, but it is simply not true. I use a pair of Flip 5 speakers. *** This is fixed now, thanks

Good idea, kind of useless when you only have a single speaker. What would be useful is one app that helps you manage all your JBL devices. Not a seperate one for Headphones, Speakers, etc...

This app asks for location access, camera access to work. They collect lot of information that is not needed for using q bluetooth speaker at all.

What confused me for some time was the fact that clicking the speaker image did not bring up the settings but that you had to click the settings icon at the bottom. That didn't seem intuitive as I associated that more with app settings -- just doesn't make sense this way. It's also not clear to me how to verify or update the firmware. That screen is easy to find, yes. Other than that looks clean and works... Don't know if you really have to install it unless you have more than one speaker...
