ABOUT US: Since 1983 the pioneering San Francisco radio show has offered "slow music for fast times" on over a thousand much-loved programs. Hearts of Space has evolved its own format — a calm, space-creating mix of ambient, electronic, world, new age, classical and experimental music from many eras and cultures. The show has been heard by millions — weekly on over 300 U.S. public radio stations since 1983, and daily on XM Satellite radio from 2001 to 2010.

Listeners describe the show as 'addictive' and 'essential' — a consistently high-quality experience that goes far beyond simple relaxation with refined, emotionally satisfying music. Artists and record labels around the world recognize Hearts of Space as the original, most widely heard, premiere showcase for ambient, contemplative, and space-creating sounds.

Music from the Hearts of Space is a favorite program from my childhood. Very glad it is still available, but the website will have to do until this app is completely overhauled. Others have described the ongoing problems, so I won't detail again. Uninstalled and now listening from the website via Bluetooth.

App hangs and crashes when screen saver or lock screen activates. Also, when laying inactive for awhile, as when you're listening to a track. Needs some work. As it hasn't been updated for quite awhile, I don't expect any fixes. I've been listening to HOS since the early eighties and its sad that the Android app is so lame.

App won't work on my Android 10 tablet. It shows the Adobe air Startup page and then goes black. Fully opens on my older Android version phone. Have to play through a web browser. Love your music on my PC, but wish I could enjoy it on my tablet also.

This app no longer works on any of my three different Android devices, two Samsung and one Huawei. They all stopped working at roughly the same time. Developer said there was a problem with my devices. They gave me remedies that did nothing. I love their product, and I am a long time subscriber and fan. But, this is simply a dropped ball. They commented that Android is hard to program for. OK. But, if something doesn't work, you need to just say "Sorry" and pull it for the time being.

Useless app. It doesn't even make it through the voice over before it stops. And it's not because it's buffering because it doesn't resume playing. I'm not sure what the developers are updating with new releases but it is certainly not the bugs users are complaining about. If they ever do get it working right, i.e., play entire episodes without stopping, then I'd like to see the ability to cast the music. I'd like to be able to listen to episodes cast from my phone, while working on my tablet.

They don't maintain website compatibility with older versions of the app. At the same time, they don't port new versions of the app to older versions of Android. So, if you don't buy otherwise unneeded devices, expect eventually to be flipped-off. And (on devices on which it runs) the latest version of the app cuts-out without remembering where it was.

Music is great, but the app is almost useless. Music stops about 1 minute after display goes to sleep. Starts again after a while, plays 30 seconds, then stops for good. How does an app get released that can't do its most basic function for more than a minute? Only get a membership to play music on a computer or Sonos, which both work fine.

Able to access playlists as a paid subscriber, but very limited options otherwise. If I want to create a playlist, browse older episodes, or want more than a 'play what's new' or category experience, I'm using the website. Really quite disappointing. Dated UI looks like a reskinned iOS app, but at least all of the (quite limited) options are at most 2-3 taps away. I'd prefer a wrapper to the website over this app, to be honest.

I tried to listen to This Weeks Show and the app stopped and restarted twice. Each time, it restarted from the beginning, so I gave up and never did hear the whole show. 9/5/2020 - Same thing today. Crashed before I could listen to the whole show. Bummer. I love HOS. We've been listening since the early 90s when it was on NPR.

I love the program, but if you plan to primarily access using an android decice (probably will since you are here) I do not recommend a subscription. Across every device I've owned, S4, S6, S8, S20 the app has been unequivocally terrible. These are not uncommon phones; there is no reason for a widely released, PAID subscription app not to be functioning properly on them. I will not be renewing this year (sub ends this month) after being a subscriber for six years. Love the show, but unexecusable
