A clean and simple universal music widget for Android 4.4+.

Ubiquity should work with any music player that displays controls and album art on the lockscreen (which is most music players, though some implement it poorly).

If you switch between different music players, you don't need to switch widgets. Just stop playing music in one app and start in another and the widget should switch.

As of version 2.0.3, all plus features are free and the source code is available on GitHub (github.com/jathak/musicwidget).

**Important**
This widget will not work until you go to Security>Notification access in settings and check "Ubiquity Music Widget"

Partially stopped working on Android 10: buttons are responsive, but if I check the "Display Album Name in Widget"-box in the settings, then album art and text in the widget get stuck no matter how many times you switch between songs/players (Samsung Note 9, One UI 2.5). I currently only check the song/artist to be shown in the widget, and it works like that, at least. Though I do hope to be back using Ubiquity fully one day though. No other widget is quite as versatile with compatible players.

Works with YouTube Music as well, and should work with any music player on your device. Recommend widget.

Works greats thanks. Using it with radio player Radio Garden which doesn't have any widgets.

This app is great when it works. Unfortunately, on a Samsung phone, at least, the album artwork often does not get shown, and occasionally the playback control buttons will not work. It's been this way for over a year at least. Still the design is much better than something like the official Spotify widget, even if the the bugs can't be worked out.

Excellent idea and works very well. Needs a blacklist or a whitelist. Things like webpage or news feed videos keep hijacking the widget. Clicking the widget itself to open the default app should be less clunky: sometimes it opens the default; sometimes it opens the last used, even hours after playback has stopped. Should have an option to open the app currently in use, and if media is not being played, should then open the default.

edit: as of Pie update, it stopped working. no longer refreshes and buttons rarely work. Galaxy S8. works fine, but you really should be able to lock a certain player/app. (ex: having it work with only Play Music, even if there's a YouTube video paused in the background) Really simple to do, will change to 5 stars after this is fixed.

I'm ridiculously upset right now. I just spent the better half of my day looking for music widgets, and this was the only one that I could customize to my liking. Imagine my shock when this app also decided to stop working- just like everyone else in the reviews is saying. This might be the only review I write, but please, *please,* fix it for use on Android 10. I'm begging you.

Really amazing app! I'm constantly listening to music and using different apps to play music, so this makes it so much easier! I don't have to dedicate an entire home screen page to music players! It looks pretty, works flawlessly, and makes life that much easier. The only downside is that to get it to constantly update with my music, I had to turn off battery optimization for the app in my phone's settings, but that's not the developer's fault, and it's easy enough to fix. Abosutely love it!

At first I was excited about this app. I was looking to add a widget to the KEXP app. This seemed to be the solution. But I could not get it to keep that app as the default app. With no other music app playing, tapping on the widget opens the Amazon Music app. Also, it "holds" the Poweramp app much of the time, even after that app is closed. If there was a way to "lock" the widget to a specific app, it would help.

Finally found a decent widget app for Spotify. The default is boring and never matches my phones layout and aesthetic. The only complaint would be; I wish it had options to change the shape, like have rounded corners as an option, and also sometimes the widget's colour won't really match the album art, but that's only a minor complaint.
