The default android car dock is great, but I find that looking at the buttons to press them takes time when I should be watching the road. This dock allows you to swipe in the direction of the buttons to select functions, keeping your eyes on the road! This app is almost identical to the Car Dock with swipe control that I created with the exception that you have control over the function of each button, allowing you to choose any app, or one of the car dock functions, to populate each place on the screen. This app was only thoroughly tested on the Motorola Droid2 with Motorola car dock. ===Features=== *You can press the buttons or slide from any empty (non-button) part of the screen toward the button to select *Place any app or one of the included car dock functions into each position on the 2 provided screens. *Voice search for music *Quick access to basic phone functions *Automatically launches when placed in car dock and exits when removed ===Permissions=== Fine Location: This app uses GPS to determine heading and speed. You can disable this feature in the settings or disable the GPS location source if you don't want the GPS used. Bluetooth: Allows the app to request to turn on Bluetooth if selected in settings. The app will always ask your permission to turn on Bluetooth. ===Potential Problems=== *The media buttons act as though your phone has hardware play, next, etc buttons, allowing you to use your own media players. More than one media app may try to respond to these buttons. Current workaround: try to use media app settings to control response to hardware media buttons or uninstall apps. *When the GPS is disabled, the app will try to align the compass heading using the magnetic compass. This sensor may indicate the wrong direction if not calibrated in the phone location settings. Some car docks have magnetic sensors in them, so the phone may need to be calibrated while connected to the dock. It can also be confused by metal and electromagnetic fields in the car. ===Disclaimer=== This app is a tool and features included to not imply they should be used while driving in conditions that would cause distraction. Like Gilead Ini says, car dock actions are buggy. The Speed Dial action starts the music player. The "play music" action starts playing the last song I played in music player, but about 1 second later skips to the next song and then looks like it goes into an endless loop jumping between songs. Likewise with the other card dock actions. It just looks like these actions need to be mapped correctly to modern phones such as the Samsung S3/S4 and Nexus 4

Really great idea, especially the swiping, but on Nexus 4... "Simulate hardware dock" setting doesn't work -- notification says car mode enabled, but hitting home key returns to regular mode. "Car dock actions" largely don't work -- phone button plays music, music button scrolls to next screen, etc. Doesn't play nice with Poweramp because Google Music tends to play instead, and I don't think that can be turned off. App shortcuts work fine, as does certain car dock actions, e.g. voice music search, but

I'm so glad to find this alternative to the default app that pops up with my Motorola dock. Let's you customize every button so you don't have apps you don't use getting in the way. Only improvement I can see would be to be able to customize layout a bit more, number of screens, position of exit and next screen buttons, etc. I'd be willing to pay for that. Also a widget that opens in forced dock mode would be great

Swiping is way safer than looking at the phone while driving trying to pinpoint an icon to tap! Also shows my speed and time. All I need. Beats the old default Android Car Home hands down. Thank you!

Simple, customizable, none of the unnecessary and distracting speedometer/compass/neon graphics from similar apps. Swipe function is a great help. Only car dock I've tried and actually kept.
