From the SOC - Scotland’s Bird Club – this app will help beginners and experts alike to discover hundreds of the best places to see and enjoy birds around the country.

Find birdwatching sites across Scotland, including RSPB, Scottish Wildlife Trust, local and national nature reserves, as well as National Trust for Scotland properties and others.

This easy to use guide will help you prepare and ensure you get the most out of your next (or first!) birdwatching trip.

For each location on the app, find out:

• what birds to look for, where and when
• how to get around the site
• recent bird sightings (from BirdTrack)
• how to get to the site with full navigation instructions
• rare and unusual species that have been seen there
• other wildlife spectacles to look for
• accessibility

Plus, help conservation by sending in your bird sightings via links in the app.

You’ll get maps and information on over 500 bird species (from SOC’s landmark publication, The Birds of Scotland) and discover where these species are likely to be seen.

You can use the core features of the app even without a signal. You can also save your favourite sites to go back to later.

New birdwatching locations will continue to be added and existing ones updated as far as possible.

The project has been financed by the SOC’s Birds of Scotland Fund – supporting ornithological publications and special projects in Scotland – with additional help from legacies to the Club and a donation from Glasgow Natural History Society.
Download the app now and start planning your trip!

Was brilliant, and I reached for it a lot. But as others say, it does not load, and crashes on loading screen. Please fix this!!

Fantastic this, I've only tried a few locations to test but so far I love the simplicity of it, the details and descriptions asto where, what why and when. Most suprisingly, it's free and no ads!!!! unbelievable!!!! so this begs the question - why 4 stars? Maybe i was expecting too much but I was expecting to be able to use this offline as well as on line. data could be at least download with a notice to say "to update the latest information you need to connect." But well recommended!!!!!

Gives amazing description of how to find birds once you get to the site. A few glitches, but some have been fixed and an incredible effort run mostly by volunteers! Learning so much through this app!

Since the latest update the app won't open - the splash screen appears for a second then it crashes. Hope you can get it sorted quickly as it has been a really useful app up until now.

Worked well on LG with Android 8 but will not stay open on Moto g5 plus with Android 10. Had to uninstall. Please update for Android 10 asap. 11/05/21 Updated app now working well for Android 11. Many thanks to the SOC 👌👍

downloaded app, searched for a location, found it, then tried to return to the list and it had disappeared. same on the species page. also the opening map kept going blank.

Lots of Orkney is missing. Nothing for Sanday or North Ronaldsay. I wouldn't trust the rest of the information as my home area is incorrect. Good response from developer, hope they can get more sites uploaded soon.

I like the app but it seems to be very unstable. it often crashes and then does not populate the map unless you power cycle your phone. Also Carsebreck Rhynd, my local patch is missing.
