Now with caching of ale trail scans in case of bad network reception. Never miss a pub again!

PLEASE NOTE – this app only shows beers and brewers from the UK Cyclops database – but you can download it wherever you are!
As requested by users around the world, CaskFinder is now also available in other countries. Please note that it finds you pubs in UK only!

THIS APP SHOWS ALL THE CYCLOPS BEERS. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS. NO BEERS WILL BE ADDED EXCEPT THOSE ADDED TO THE CYCLOPS DATABASE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS. IT IS NO FAULT OF THE APP, BUT INTENTION :) THANKS!

Join the World’s Biggest Ale Trail and visit some of the best pubs in Britain. You have over 8,500 to choose from and they have all won the Cask Marque Award for the quality of their cask beer.

CaskFinder is designed to help you enjoy and appreciate Cask Ale wherever you may be in the UK! Combining data from The Cask Marque Trust’s pub quality inspection scheme and The Cyclops® Beer standardisation initiative, both industry sponsored bodies, CaskFinder uses the location-awareness of your iPhone to show you nearby pubs, brewers and events.

Finding a Cask Marque quality approved pub couldn’t be easier – there are over 8,500 in the UK and growing all the time – click on the Cask Marque pub icon and CaskFinder shows you automatically on a map where your nearest pubs are. Once you have found a pub, you can click on its icon and find out what beers it serves, based on its Cask Marque quality inspection. If you are unfamiliar with the beers or just want to try something new, you can click on the beer logo and immediately view the Cyclops® Beer database information held for over 1,000 beers. The Cyclops® database contains standardised tasting information compiled by trained inspectors, including Head Brewers, so you’ll know they know what they are talking about! However, you can rate your favourite beers yourself so that you can keep a record of beers that you specially like.

If you like a particular brewer’s beers, you can find out more about the brewer and even see what other beers they produce – and find out which pubs you can drink them in. Or you could just browse through the database and choose any one of the beers at random!

Beers and brewers are constantly being added to Cyclops and the database is updated on an almost daily basis. Similarly, Cask Marque inspectors are active 51 weeks a year and their results are added to the database every week.

In addition to finding pubs and beers, CaskFinder includes a number of other useful features – a list of Beer Festivals complete with contact details, admission prices and maps to show you where to go – a Beer Blog from award winning writer Pete Brown that gives you an inside track on the beer industry – and Beer of the Week, a featured beer of interest from your region.

CaskFinder is not just another list of pubs – it is an indispensable tool for every beer lover!

Please note that many pubs stock small quantities of beers and once they are sold out, change them for another. Cask Ale, by its nature does not have a long shelf life, and is best served fresh from the Brewer. Accordingly, some pubs may not have the same beers in stock today than when they were last visited by a Cask Marque assessor, so if you are travelling a long way to sample a particular beer, phone ahead to check before you set out to avoid a wasted trip – you can access the pub’s phone number from CaskFinder automatically from the pub details page.

You are very reliant on a phone signal in the absence of WiFi and the pub having an up-to-date certificate which is readily on display. To overcome the absence of signal m, take a photo of the OR Code and scan it later. You may have to use your partner's phone or transfer it to another tablet or phone. Otherwise it's fine

Nice app if visiting an aera where you are not familiar with the local Ales...however would be good to have a 'My Beers' tab where you can see the different beers that you have tried or scanned on your travels and pass on the info to others who may be heading in the same direction...Note for the Developers: maybe look at Vivino, a wine equivalent, that has this feature.....

Really want to try this app out can't log in or register keeps saying failed to create account may already exist Try to log in and forgot password and it say account does not exist...pretty sure I've not registered before. Please help! *Edited Thanks to the developers, the login issue was fixed and the app works really well. One question though...after you have rated and favourited a beer can you access this list without searching manually?

The update has ruined this app. The ale trail used to be fun now all the pubs I have visited have disappeared, what has happened to the prizes. Get it sorted to get a 5 star rating. Sorted it out, tapped on Worlds Biggest Ale Trail and everything reappeared. Found the prizes. Just need to navigate the app to find where everything is. Keep up the good work. Back to 5 stars.

Since the app has been updated the option to scan a certificate without a data connection is not working. It used to put the scanned QR code as pending but now that function does not work and it does not save the scanned certificate so that it can be recorded against my account at a later time when i have a data connection.

If I could have given this zero stars then it would be more apt. My town has just two pubs on this app, both of which serve the worse beers in town, yet the Nottinghamshire County CAMRA pub of the year is not featured! Dross app, probably the Doom Bar equivalent of the app world.

Excellent. Prizes apart we have found some interesting places nationwide, and met many interesting people - oh, and we've found some great beers. Only downside, the placement of pubs on map is often inaccurate, at times greatly.

Does not show cask mark pubs in the area you are in, that makes it pretty useless. UPDATE. IN SOME TOWNS IT SHOWS CASK MARQUE PUBS BUT I HAVE HAD SOME TOWNS WHERE IT SHOWS NO CASQUE MARK PUBS EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN IN AND GOT THE QR CODE FROM PUBS SHOWING CASK MARQUE MEMBER SIGN OUTSIDE PUB. UPDATE. Just been to Seahouses, Beadnell and Alnwick. No sign of any casque mark pubs on the app yet I got 1 code at Seahouses & 1 at Beadnell & 2 at Alnwick. May have been more but I did not look around.

The beer search crashes every time I use it, the 'where to drink' function is useless and the beer blog is out-dated. Time to get planning a spring clean!!! Used to be a good app, just a pain now

Have used this app for 3 years or so and have always liked it. Unfortunately, it seems to have been forgotten - beer blog is nearly 2 years out of date and beer of the week never changes. Sort it!
