Praise for Lifeline:

“I’ve played many games that I find engrossing, but Lifeline may be one of the first that changed the way I thought about my daily routine, which leapt off the screen and became a part of my lived experience.” - Eli Cymet, Gamezebo

“For a few brief hours I cared – really cared – about the fate of a completely fictional character. I don’t think any other game I’ve played has made me feel that way before.” - Matt Thrower, PocketGamer

Love it. Clever. Funny. Suspenseful. I've played this one twice now, and loved all the others they've made too.

The problem I have with this game has nothing to do with its writing, which is still great. Structurally, a CYOA works much better if you don't have to backtrack so far that the story's momentum is thrown off. This has way more failstates than the first game, and the checkpoints and Fast Mode aren't fast enough to get you back where you want to be in the story. You end up rereading certain text too many times, without clear enough clues as to what you missed early or what you need to change.

The first one was amazing, but this one is much less so. With the first one i feel emotionally attached to Taylor and would think about them through the day while waiting for them to wake up, walk, etc. But with this sequel everything feels rushed, the conversation options aren't as immersive/real, and the story is just lacking.

  4. JD Escky-avatar

Actually felt connection to the main protagonist after two games. The story picks up rapidly as well so that's pretty cool. Other than that it didn't feel any different from the other CYOA games. Still loads of fun, though.

Not like the first but still good problem is that some options don't make sense like stay calm and don't listen to that is something major for life and death but besides the fallout lines and similar options making big difference you can't tell Taylor to use things that they have which I understand why you can't but they could make a massive difference in certain areas

Great game love the story and the twists and turns. Me and my husband played it together and it was a lot of fun making decisions.

Outstanding storytelling. I like the first one more, but I am a fan of this series until the end.

  8. Daniel Rainey-avatar

This is an evolutionary step up from an already good game in lifeline. Buy it.

  9. Arvuzá-avatar

    Arvuzá

Well... Its just an straight path, you actually cannot decide and if you dont take the exact correct decisions you have to start again. The first one felt more dynamic and free. This one even asumes things that you suposedly have done on the first game that probsbly you didn't and feel forced. Only play it if you really miss the connection you felt for Taylor on the first game but its not going to make you feel the same.

  10. Blender User-avatar

    Blender User

The sequel isn't as good as the original. There is too much action and it is very fast-paced which gives the player little time to comprehend the situation which isn't the same as the original. There is also little suspense as the waiting period is only a few minutes. The storyline is also a little bugged as the sequence of events can get jumbled up which may distrupt the flow of the story. Still it is a nice follow up to the original and it is quite immersive. Overall it is good, but a little bit of a let down.
