The Letter is an interactive, horror/drama visual novel inspired by classic Asian horror films. Told through an immersive branching narrative, the game puts the players into the shoes of seven characters as they find themselves falling prey to a vicious curse plaguing the Ermengarde Mansion for centuries.
In this game, your choices will shape and drive the story forward: will you mend a relationship on the verge of collapse, or will you let it fall apart? Will you risk saving them, despite the consequences, or leave them to die a gruesome death? The fate of all the characters is in your hands.

This game is fantastic because it spends time to develop the characters and make them believable. It's not horror the entire time. There are parts where the characters go to work or see a movie together. There's a lot of build up and it's worth the wait. The monster is unnerving in it's design. You're choices also have real weight to what happens. You may do something in the beginning of the chapter and then at the end, that thing could be the reason a character dies. I highly recommend this.

I've payed for every chapter and beat the game before. No problems. I uninstalled it a month ago, and now every time i start the game, it displays an unknown error. I tried clearing the app cache, clearing data, nothing. Hope this gets fixed. As for the game: good artwork, ok story. The only time where I genuinely considered uninstalling it because of the game itself is when Luke said the N word. As a black person, that made me rather iffy about continuing my playthrough. Fix the error, please.

I'm actually enjoying this quite a bit. I have a hard time finding visual novels that are compatible with my device and actually good, and I have been eyeing this for awhile tbh. I would have played it a long time ago if I knew it was this good. It's not entirely unqiue, but I still enjoy the storyline, and several of the characters. Right now my favorite character is Zachary. Something I don't like is that I have to pay for the rest of the story ($13.99 for the whole thing), but i'm desperate.

  4. Glenn King-avatar

This might be the best choice game I have ever played. The choices really do matter and really change the narrative of the story alot. Lots of games try to say that same thing but never deliver on it. Plus it has a great story and good characters, kind of sad how the true ending goes. The ones that made this game are genius and I hope there are more in the future.

Love most everything about the game, only disappointing thing is after the firtst chapter you cant continue without paying for one extra chaper or the rest of them as I dont have the fonds for it but if your someone who doesnt mind being cut off from progressing at the end of the first chapter then give it a try, persenally I find it a bit annoying more so that I dont have the funds then the kind of abrupt hult at the end of the chapter but the story, art and even voice acting was amasing.

This game was absolutely fabulous. An amazing storyline that pulls at your heartstrings and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I definitely recommend it. Worth every penny.

This game is amazing it has a great story narrative full-blown CGI on some scenes and everbody has voice acting except for the inner thoughts of the character you're currently playing. I haven't even finished the story yet but I just had to put in my two cents. Props to the developers

This is so amazing you actually have to pay attention to every detail or you miss something I screamed three times and it's hard to scare me I love this I will definitely buy the other chapters especially if it's as good as the first I greatly appreciate and think the makers of this story

Compelling and entertaining. They do a good job persuading you to purchase the entire story. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is their voice over actors: most, if not all, of them need to work on their British accents. For example, the words "can't" and "hand" are not pronounced like the word "awful". Every time I heard one of those slip ups, it took me out of the story. For future reference, study your dialects!

Played and beat this a long time ago, still the best visual novel experience you can play on a phone. High quality voice acting, tense moments, multiple paths to take and unlock and pretty artstyle really make this shine above the rest. I just wish there was more, I've played the prequel but it's not quite the same.
