Take control over your GPU!

Chainfire3D is an intermediary OpenGL driver. What does that mean? It means that Chainfire3D sits between your apps and the graphics drivers, and can intercept and/or change commands between the two. It has some built-in functions, and can be further extended with plugins to provide extra functionality.

!! For Froyo and Gingerbread ONLY. NOT COMPATIBLE with Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean !!

!! Chainfire3D is for 1ghz+ devices only !!

!! ROOT is required for this program, as well as a writable /system partition. S-OFF is also required on HTC devices !!

Features include reducing texture size and quality to reduce memory use and potentially increase game performance, as well as increasing memory use potentially increase performance.

If you also install the (experimental) EGL driver, AND your GPU supports it, AND you have the Pro version, you can enable 4xMSAA or 16xMSAA on a per-app bases. This can drastically improve image quality!

For a savvy user on a less-than-stellar tablet this app has been a real asset. Using an A8 and A9 tablet with this was a breeze. XDA has links to the plugins so help yourself. I'm playing GOF2 at great speed on a tablet that cost 100 dollars. I'm not even on the Pro version yet either (I will be as soon as I finish typing this tho). Using a Mali-400mp GPU found in most inexpensive tablets no long has to be a sacrifice. You can get all the benefits of a PowerVR or Tegra2 at the cost of a little memory and CPU overhead.

Bought the pro version now. Games that had textures missing now run superb. And A message to the others complaining. Chainfire doesn't make the plugins. These can be found easily on the web. Learn to Google people. And lastly. It doesn't trick you into purchasing. The free version works well. But if you want the enhanced GL driver, and the ability to create configurations on an app by app basis, then buy it. Well worth the purchase price. It's a shame it doesn't work on Jelly Bean. But things move on.

The so-called "Beta" EGL driver advanced settings such as MSAA never worked on my Nexus S even with rooted stock Gingerbread. This driver was only really promising on my device for a month after I bought it. Then later none of the newer features were supported. I only used this for night mode until I upgraded to ICS. So far there is no ICS support.

This little app can help you alot with gaming performance, the graphics may go a little crapper but who cares? Your game will go alot smoother with mabe only a little lag. Works perfectly on Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 running Cyanogenmod 7 (stable build). I would highly recommend this app. P.s Haven't tried that optional EGL driver. Only really cool thing you can get with pro is that you can set your graphic options for individual apps.

Even though it won't let me download the Free version of Chainfire 3D from Market, I was able to get it from another site. So I was able to test it on my Rooted Skyrocket. And I was able to play Sprinkle. So maybe it's time to "allow" SkyRocket users to download this awesome app

I bought the Pro license to support the developer's work, even though I play no games. My interest is in CF.lumen. On my SGH-T989, I suspect that CF.lumen and/or Chainfire3D is using a lot of battery, but I am still investigating. Also, as others have reported, using night mode on an SGS2 slows UI performance radically. I look forward to the developer fixing this.

Do not install this application if you are running on 4.1 and above, it will softbrick your phone. I installed it once but I got a bootloop. Had to flash a new custom rom just to be able to get my tablet working again. If you had experienced bootloop because of this application you just need to flash a new rom or flash the stock rom.

Great APP and great Driver! This easily boosts performance and saves some battery when playing 3d games. The optimization is great and don't downsize the textures too much. I think All Operating systems should make OpenGL optimization like this. I don't have words to thank the developers for creating this tweak and sharing it for free.

when nightmode is enabled, a weird color tinting issue happens on verizon LTE galaxy nexus, rooted, stock 4.0.2 rom. stock gallery app adds somewhat random tinting to photos and folder thumbnails. Once nightmode turned off, issue disappears. Hope that ICS/GNex support comes soon, as this app sounds really cool and promising!

should be 0 stars but you cant do that on here which is a shame. I put it on rooted Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 5110 only to find it rebooted and then got stuck on the Samsung screen and got no further ,I would not recommend this as now I have lost all the everything on my tab not pleased when it was said to work on my tablet,
