A fun way to learn. Highly interactive and can even be personalized.

It's a good app and I was planning on getting a subscription, until I saw the pricing. I already found 30 a month very expensive, but good language apps are very scarce, so I found it worth considering. Then I found out the 30 a month only applies when you commit to 36 months. The other options are ridiculously expensive: 60 a month for 6 months, 100 (!!!) a month for a monthly membership. Laughable, considering that the app provides only 1 assignment a day, which takes like 5 mins to do.

Yes the lessons are fun and interesting and I looked forward to doing them. And during the trial I started to justify spending the $24/month on this program. Lo and behold at the end of the trial I go to sign up and it's $24/mo with a 36 MONTH commitment or $65 month to month. I actually logged back in a couple hours later because I was sure I misread something but no, that's the price they've come up with. And for that you are extremely limited to five 5-10 min exercises per week? No thanks!

Fantastic application. I'd learnt French at school, but forgotten lots. This application moves quickly to your level and focuses on areas of weakness. I like the balance between technical understanding (which as an adult I find helps), phrases and also colloquial idioms. The lessons being in French (with English option) help you get attuned to the language. Also the eclectic stories and scenes are entertaining - the lessons are fun. Focus for adults and ability to handle more natural phrases.

First 7 lessons free and fun. The humor is subtle and greatly appreciated. I checked all the English translations just for the jokes! I also like the mix of French accents: France, south of France, Canada, etc. Even as a beginner, the grammar explanations in French were understandable. Alas, the pricing! 65 USD/mo pay as you go or "cheapest" $864 up front for 3 years. C'est dommage!

The inital seven lessons are really well structured and I got a lot out of them. However, the full course is horrendously expensive if you can't make a long term financial commitment to it. £50+ per rolling month! Not worth that sort of money for software delivered training, especially when compared with the cost of say, Netflix or Spotify.

What a tragedy. Le Monde have created a pretty decent language learning application here, but it is absolutely stunted by (i) it's limits beyond the trial period (most notably: one very short lesson a day) and (ii) it's incredibly high (frankly, obscene) pricing. I can't claim to understand their business model. Clearly it doesn't involve volume selling to a mass, domestic market, so presumably it's aimed at businesses with money to burn. The fact it's cheaper to do a French A-level in one year - an accredited course with a real exam which will take you to B1-B2 on the CEFR - makes the pricing of this 'Frantastique' course particularly laughable.

This is a great app to engage deeply into the French language. It provides fun stories to follow and plenty of listening comprehension to train your french ear ;) All the content is written in French but it provides an English explanation as well. The lessons adapts to your skills as you progress. I wish I had discovered this app before. Is fun and on each lesson provides a short reading of the french culture.

I can tell that there is a lot of effort put into building these original lessons, but let me be candid about the UI: It sucks. When every other app uses a "card design" and allow users to swipe/switch between them, this app uses the outrageous web view, and it often requires scrolling up and down a few times to finish a question. Also, the 3x3 cartoon images can be too small on the phone screen, and it is very difficult to read the texts. I do not think I want to subscribe to their expensive monthly service.

  10. Abdulla Alqemzi-avatar

It's a very good app but very different from all the other learning apps. There's only one lesson aday. It wants you to do the exercises first and then explanation comes with the correction. Playing the video is not very comfortable when I wanted to replay it the screen kept jumping to the question. They have cultural tips if you're interested. Sometimes when you click on English explanation, browser doesn't open immediately. In general it's very good app. Their Online help service is amazing.
