A small app which will calculated the Sunrise and Sunset each day at 01:30 AM based on your current location then if it detects the phone being used in car mode and the time is after sunset will turn the night mode on. During day hours it set the phone to day mode, this can help drivers in countries where lights have to be always switched on, since that puts the phone into night mode. This small app will override that and you should have proper day mode during the day regardless of the car headlights being switched on or off. During night hours if your headunit doesn't have the proper sensors this app will make sure that your device actually switch to night mode. The app is running like a service and will start automatically at boot, it has not settings or anything else. Once installed open it up, after around 30 seconds you will see the calculated Sunrise/Sunset values in the notification bar.

Used to work, but now only displays "Sun: %rise - %sunset", no actual times displayed. Has no effect on screen display, no longer stops auto headlights turning screen to night mode... all a bit pointless.

Day 1 review: this app works as expected! The most frustrating thing about Android Auto for me is that the car media system controls night mode. -- As the seasons change to Fall, or back to Spring, the sun sets at a different time nearly every night -- sunrise and sunset settings have to be manually managed on my car... In my 3 years using AA it's always been a pain, adjusting the night settings several times a week. The developer option for phone controlled night mode has never worked for me either. But this app did it! Google maps, Waze, everything Auto switched to night mode. I'll update my review if my experience changes, but so far so good!

App no longer works with Android 10. What a fantastic little app that used to do what Google apps can't: switch between day/night modes according to sunrise/sunset. I got a new phone & now everytime the car switches its headlights on, the car unit goes dark. On a rainy day I can see sweet nothing. Thanks Google for being such "clever" guys that you can't include such simple setting with your own apps! As if you gave a toss. I'm happy to pay if you update the app. PLEASE!

Love this app, works great for Crankshaft as well! If I could ask for one thing, it would be to be able to add a buffer. I am usually driving when sunrise time comes, and it switching to daytime is like having a headlight on my dash! A small menu that you could open and add 15 minutes to the change over would be great!

Update....... Using pixel 4XL, doesn't seem to be working any longer... Previously... using pixel 3XL it seems to be functioning as advertised. It took care of the dimming/daytime/nighttime annoying problem I was having with my pioneer Android Auto head unit. I came back to see if there was a paid option so I could assist the developer

Thank you so much!!! My carplay dongle app for my android navigation unit wouldn't switch to night mode early enough, so I had to manually switch it back and forth every day. This fixed that issue and now my android auto is always at the appropriate brightness.

After installing this app my phone kept heating up and the battery would flatten in a couple of hours. Eventually did a factory reset and clean re-installation of my apps. Problem still there. Took several resets until I realized that this app might be the problem (last app installed before the problem started). After I uninstalled it and also a further reset and clean re-install of other apps the phone was back to normal.

Was great but now not working after update to Android 10. So annoying with all day lights running in car so Android Auto automatically defaults to night mode. This app was brilliant at keeping Android Auto right. Please can you update it!!! Thanks for your efforts so far

Good app but would be great if I could set the on/off time manually instead of forcing sunrise/sunset time trigger...Really, I would like to just keep it locked in night mode ALL THE TIME!

Doesn't seem to do anything. I loaded it and tapped it and I never got any pop up showing the times. I started my car and hook my phone to Android auto and it doesn't seem to switch between night and day mode at all.
