The modest price for this VPN client is worth it. Yes there have been some confusing upgrades and a subscription change. That's noise. If you need a VPN, use this client.

A small price to pay for a great VPN app. VPN Client Pro beats the Free and paid alternatives in stability, speed, and features. The only issue I had was with OpenVPN being a little bit slower than the official client. This is a great app if you are using SoftEther VPN server and the best for any SSTP server. In the future I would like to see SoftEther VPN Protocol Support. Also donating a portion of sales to SoftEther VPN could help get more users since most people use that server.

I have been using this app for years even back when it was originally called “SSTP VPN Client” and you could buy it as a one-time purchase. Now you have to pay for the app through an in-app purchase and it’s a yearly subscription. I don’t mind that too much however in my case I am running a custom ROM (GrapheneOS) with MicroG (doesn’t support in-app purchases) and because I do not have Google Play Services installed the new app will not run. This is very disappointing to me because the old app “SSTP VPN Client” works just fine without needing Google Play Services installed because it didn’t rely on in-app purchases. Due to this issue anyone running a custom ROM will not be able to use the new app “VPN Client Pro”. I have been in contact with the developer in the past about other issues that I had and he was very helpful then however regarding this issue there was nothing he could do because of the new subscription model that he is using. I personally really enjoyed using this app but now I am unable to so I switched to another free alternative app developed by John Vincent Diaz called "MS-SSTP VPN" (so far I haven’t had any issues). I would recommend the same to anyone who is running a custom ROM or doesn’t want to pay for a yearly subscription.

Bizarre upgrade process. The legacy app is unlisted in search results so it is really hard to install when I switch phones, and there's currently no way to get a perpetual license for all features that I've already paid for in the new app. Subscription model is a real bastardization when the core foundation of this app is built on open source software. What have you contributed back to the open source projects recently? Show me that you give back, and maybe I'll agree to a subscription.

The log was disabled. I did everything I could with the settings to make this stop. The issue has spanned multiple versions, back to the old app. Sorry, but I'm fed up at this point, and that is why I left this review... so it can be fixed. I've gone back to ovpn in the meantime, which doesn't cause these issues. You can remain in denial of it all you want. I quite simply won't subscribe to this app any more, which is disappointing considering I used it for years before this started happening.

Unless the app requires costly upkeep (e.g. servers), subscription is not the way to go. Especially when free alternatives are easily available and accessible. Too bad though--loved the old app & really wanted to support this. To the dev: millions of apps have continual improvements--that's the only reason people continue to use them. That doesn't justify a subscription. I'd happily pay a one time fee, but as the comments make clear, you've lost far more money and loyalty with this choice.

I'm suggesting you something which makes this more convenient I want you to add a shelf to categorise VPNs and divide their servers from each other, there are so many servers in main menu of the app if someone wants to use some VPNs altogether like Express,Nord ,and etc, and it would not be great to scroll through the app to see some specific sever of specific VPN, favorite mark is okay but still it's too messy to find what you exactly want order to save time, and ping test would make it awesome

There are a lot of people complaining about going to subscription. the annual subscription proposed seems to be ~$7yr or $3.50yr if you bought the older app. To be honest, as long as the cost is low/reasonable I don't mind this IF it means guaranteed ongoing attention from the developer for an app that I rely on. At $3.50/yr I think that's not bad. $7/yr is pushing it. However, this is the type of app that requires timely ongoing maintenance for security.

Forcing everyone to pay every year is a misguided attempt at locking in money, but you can do this by providing every purchase up to 1 year of paid updates then the version locks until the next purchase. This is much more palatable than how it's currently worded. I won't support this model on principle.

This is a great VPN app. I'd been using the now deprecated Pro app for years and I've always been happy with it. In my review for the old version I criticised the people complaining about the price being high. And now I can't help but do the same for those crying foul at the new subscription model. Behind any quality app is a person or people working and coding. And it turns out that having someone pay you once so you can service them FOREVER isn't sustainable. Why don't people get that?
