It offers original audio podcasts, available in streaming and for offline listening, as well as live streaming and listening on demand to the broadcasts broadcast on the 12 Rai radio channels. The catalog of available titles is enriched with archival content, audio descriptions of films and fiction and podcasts of the best-known Rai TV programs. RaiPlay Sound is simple to use and requires no registration both for streaming live channels and for most audio on demand content. At the top of the RaiPlay Sound homepage or from the "Channels" section you can easily access the live streaming of the 12 channels of Radio Rai (Rai Radio 1, Rai Radio 2, Rai Radio 3, Isoradio, Rai Radio1 Sport, Rai Radio 2 Indie , Rai Radio 3 Classic, Rai Gr Parliament, Rai Radio Kids, Rai Radio Live, Rai Radio Techetè, Rai Radio All Italian). By selecting a live channel you can also view the schedule of the next day and week and listen to the episodes aired in the last 7 days. From the live radio player, if the program has already started, you can listen to it again from the starting point and you can return to the live broadcast by selecting the appropriate icon; you can switch to the car mode function, change the live channel, view the schedule of subsequent events, share the live broadcast, access information and podcasts on the current program and set the sleep timer. From the "Explore" section you can search for the content of your interest (by title and keywords) and discover the range of titles in the catalog organized by genres and sub-genres to listen to in streaming. By logging in, you can add the podcast titles of your interest to your favorites using the "Follow" feature and select the content available for download in the app to listen to them offline. From the player on demand you can share the content you are listening to (even from a specific minute), move on to the next episode and add it to your playlist. You can also use the new “Bookmark” feature which will allow you to add a marker to a specific point of the content you are listening to, add a note to it and easily find it in the My Podcasts> Bookmarks section (to be able to access it quickly or share it). In the "My podcasts" section you can manage and edit the history of the content you started listening to (to easily resume its use from the moment you stopped it), the podcasts you follow, the bookmarks and playlists you have created, the in-app downloads you've made and use the alarm clock feature. From the "Other" section you can access the management of your personal Rai account, the FAQ, the "Write to us" form and set the consumption of your device related to the use of RaiPlay Sound (wifi only or even on the data network). Il catalogo dei titoli disponibili è arricchito da contenuti d’archivio, da audiodescrizioni di film e fiction e dai podcast dei programmi tv Rai più noti.
RaiPlay Sound è semplice da usare e non richiede registrazione sia per lo streaming dei canali in diretta che per la maggior parte dei contenuti audio on demand. Ti invitiamo, tuttavia, a registrarti e a effettuare l’accesso con il tuo account Rai per poter utilizzare funzionalità aggiuntive che personalizzeranno la tua esperienza d’uso della piattaforma e poter ascoltare anche offline i tuoi podcast preferiti.
RaiPlay Sound sostituisce l’App RaiPlay Radio; se hai già un account Rai che utilizzavi su RaiPlay Radio o usi su RaiPlay o RaiPlay YoYo, potrai continuare ad utilizzarlo su RaiPlay Sound; se è la prima volta che accedi ai servizi delle piattaforme multimediali Rai, effettua la registrazione creando un tuo account Rai.
Nella parte alta dell’homepage di RaiPlay Sound o dalla sezione “Canali” potrai agilmente accedere alle dirette streaming dei 12 canali di Radio Rai (Rai Radio 1, Rai Radio 2, Rai Radio 3, Isoradio, Rai Radio1 Sport, Rai Radio 2 Indie, Rai Radio 3 Classica, Rai Gr Parlamento, Rai Radio Kids, Rai Radio Live, Rai Radio Techetè, Rai Radio Tutta Italiana). Selezionando un canale in diretta potrai visualizzare anche il palinsesto del giorno e della settimana successiva e riascoltare le puntate andate in onda negli ultimi 7 giorni. 
Dal player delle dirette radio, se il programma è già iniziato potrai riascoltarlo dal punto di inizio e potrai tornare al live della diretta selezionando l’apposita icona; potrai passare alla funzionalità car mode, cambiare il canale in diretta, visualizzare il palinsesto degli eventi successivi, condividere la diretta, accedere alle informazioni e ai podcast sul programma in onda e impostare lo sleep timer.
Dalla sezione “Esplora” potrai cercare i contenuti di tuo interesse (per titolo e keywords) e scoprire l’offerta dei titoli in catalogo organizzata per generi e sottogeneri da ascoltare in streaming.
Effettuando l’accesso, potrai aggiungere ai tuoi preferiti i titoli podcast di tuo interesse tramite la funzionalità “Segui” e selezionare i contenuti disponibili al download in app per ascoltarli offline. Dal player on demand potrai condividere il contenuto che stai ascoltando (anche da uno specifico minuto), passare all’episodio successivo e aggiungerlo a una tua playlist. Potrai anche utilizzare la nuova funzionalità “Segnalibro” che ti permetterà di aggiungere un marker su un punto preciso del contenuto che stai ascoltando, aggiungervi una nota e ritrovarlo agilmente nella sezione I miei podcast > Segnalibri (per potervi accedere celermente o condividerlo).
Nella sezione “I miei podcast” potrai gestire e modificare la cronologia dei contenuti che hai iniziato ad ascoltare (per riprenderne agilmente la fruizione dal momento in cui l’avevi interrotta), i podcast che segui, i segnalibri e le playlist che hai creato, i download in app che hai effettuato e utilizzare la funzionalità sveglia.
 
Dalla sezione “Altro” potrai accedere alla gestione del tuo account personale Rai, alle FAQ, al form “Scrivici” e impostare i consumi del tuo device correlati all’uso di RaiPlay Sound (solo wifi o anche su rete dati).
