This project ports the Windows application Emu48 written in C to Android.
It uses the Android NDK. The former Emu48 source code (written by Christoph Giesselink) remains untouched because of a thin win32 emulation layer above Linux/NDK!
This win32 layer will allow to easily update from the original Emu48 source code.
It can open or save the exact same state files (state.e48/e49) than the original Windows application!
Some KML files with theirs faceplates are embedded in the application but it is still possible to open a KML file and its dependencies by selecting a folder.
The application does not request any permission (because it opens the files or the KML folders using the content:// scheme).
The application is distributed with the same license under GPL and you can find the source code here:
https://github.com/dgis/emu48android
QUICK START
1. Click on the 3 dots button at the top left (or from the left side, slide your finger to open the menu).
2. Touch the "New..." menu item.
3. Select a default calculator (or "[Select a Custom KML script folder...]" where you have copied the KML scripts and ROM files (Android 11 cannot use the folder Download)).
4. And the calculator should now be opened.

This HP calculator is exceptionally well done! Kudos to all involved. If you do scientific work: a) I recomend you understand(steep learning curve<==but worth it) and use this. HP "reverse polish" calculator b) try reverse polish type logic in solving calculations. First the logic may seem "backwards", after you master it you will(IMHO) always find it soooooo much more effective and useful. c) these HP calculators have great useful functionality, you can use them from High School to P.H.D.+

I use this app to emulate my HP-50g calculator using: RPN, exact mode, symbolic. I am obsessed with Renaissance algebra and I don't want to see any decimal points. I write small programs that run thousands of calculations at a time. The actual calculator runs at 75 MHz and my Moto Edge has 8 cores at greater that 1GHz. So fast. The HP-50g is the most powerful calculator in the world. By the way, I don't use the graphing capabilities of this calculator. And, RPN is difficult to learn.

Much better than the HP Prime Graphing Calculator App that I used to use and paid $15 for (where did it go anyways?). Fantastic emulator! Just like my beloved physical 48G (which wasn't as good as the 28S) without all the battery issues. Love the useless powering the calcuator off feature.

Trying to set system flag 105 (approx or exact) using SF command. It does not work. Seems other flags do not work either. Using hp50. Otherwise it's a fantastic program

Fantastic emulator. Five stars. Feature request: when toggle the status display off, the calculator screen should expand into the status area similar to what happens when toggling the button menu off and the calculator screen expands into the button menu area.

Even though I am impressed by the work that has gone into this emulator, I find using it on my phone almost impossible. I have a real HP 50g and even on my large smartphone the emulator is almost half the size and makes it nearly impossible to use.

Really great calculator. I found this after having run into a really nasty bug with Droid48 that required me to uninstall/reinstall to clear. I found this through Droid48 Reader. To me, this emulator seems more capable. One thing I noticed is that I am not able to enter lower case characters like on Droid48. I have very little experience with a real 48 so I don't know how the real one behaves.

This is definitely a excellent app. A most have for any hp calculators enthusiasts. When using this app, don't forget to create a Flash Rom File to prevent port 2 memory lost when closing the app.

Awesome app. Lets me keep my favorite HP 48SX in my pocket at all times. Very detailed and well executed emulation of the calculator.

I have two emulators, The HP 49G and the hp 48 gII (really a stripped down HP 50g.) They work well. The name of the file representing the emulator can be changed (use Save as...) Load object and Save object are NOT Import - Export. This app especially when emulating An HP 48S/SX, HP 48G/GX, or any form of hp 49 needs the import-export feature. Other Emulators rather than using IR or Wire Emulation simply save level one or load an object onto the stack. This apps needs to be able to do this.
