The selection of operas is great (although I wish the audio quality was better on modern HD recorded operas). But the app is pretty bad. Every time I open it, it requires me to login (other apps know how to store credentials for a period of time). There is no way to send the app to background in order to keep listening to music while doing other things on my Android phone or tablet . The app stops playing, as soon as I send it to background. And the screen has to stay on for the same reason, which drains the battery.

I'm only giving the Met's app 3 out of 5 stars because of the lack of dark mode option. In addition to that, since the last update, the subtitles have gotten smaller, making it difficult to read on my Pixelbook. Nevertheless, I love the Met, the amazing selection of content, & above all else, the incredible artists from past to present! To the Dev's, get rid of the pink borders, put in dark mode as an option, & please, do something about those subtitles! Looking forward to the 2021/22 season!!!

Content is great (of course) but the streaming is very poor. Either fix the streaming or allow us to download or both. It's embarrassing.

Have been using this app for some time but it gets temperamental every few days. It's either saying your not logged in (which I am) or that "Unfortunately Met Opera On Demand has stopped"... no explanation and no support. I can cast to my Sony TV via my Android phone or via my Chromecast device, but as I say it is not 100% reliable at best. As of this posting I cant get it to run at all for the past two days. Question: Does the Coronavirus effect Met Opera on Demand? The App appears to be sick. Not worth the $15.99 monthly. They don't seem to have a problem taking payments from my credit card but they do have a problem delivering the service I'm paying for. I'll try one more time then cancel my subscription. It's a shame because the content is exceptional and I enjoy watching the operas in HD over and over again... Time to get on top of your IT people and make them do their job. They are losing customers for you.

Update: After I got this to work, the operas are pretty great. Have to update to five stars, despite the technical flaws. Old review: Don't bother with this junk. The app doesnt even recognize my username and password, so I have to enter a browser (on my phone...) to log in using the same password. There isn't even a change password option in the app-- it just tells you "are you connected to the internet?" I regret my yearly subscription since I never use this now.

Straight up doesn't work on the newest Chromecast. Connects, hiccups a bit like it's going to start streaming, and then does nothing. You can't even disconnect from the non-stream in the app - it just displays "no media selected". Staggering that they charge fifteen bucks a month for this service and then let their Android app get over two years out of date.

This app does not seem to have Chromecast support, i.e., it's not Chromecast-enabled to allow for streaming to a television (hooked up to a sound system) without loss of video or audio quality. Who wants to watch an opera on a phone? The Berliner Philharmoniker figured out how to provide this feature for its Digital Concert Hall years ago. I hope the Met adds this very soon. If I'm wrong about this, I apologize.

I just can't get the app OR the website to play through my Chromecast. The app doesn't work at all; the website works, but no closed captions. I'm so bummed because the Amazon Fire app my brother has works great, but this doesn't work for me at all. I would very happily pay the $14.99 subscription if I could get it to work.

I am a long-time MET subscriber (season tickets) & have subscribed to MET Opera on Demand for > 3years using Roku. App fine THERE. I recently switch to Android TV (Tivo Stream 4k) for functionality not available on Roku. Unfortunately, Android version does not work. Understand that new version is due Feb 21. Hopefully it fixes Android TV and works more universally. Otherwise, it may force me to cancel subscription for MET Opera on Demand. Please don't make me do that.

The App has been updated as of March 1, 2021, so I can now cast directly from my Android phone to either a Sony with Chromecast built in or to a Google TV device plugged into another set. I can also cast from the Met's website directly from my windows 10 laptop using the Chrome Browser, though I prefer using a good set of headphones and watching on the laptop (HD display). The Met's content is among the best in the world, and now the app works as promised.
