Navit for Android is an open source (GPL) car navigation system. Couldn't get it working. Too hard to work out which map sections I needed for Sussex as Sussex was not an option. Couldn't search for addresses I could see on the map and could not start navigation. Going back to MapFactor Navigator as it just works and is what Navit needs to aspire to.

Installed incl. maps & tried routing on android. But its very poor. Idk how it will work on car nav system on my mitsubishi thru info in navit website thou. If its not workin on android then how it'll be on car gps. I hope they improve it. For now, i uninstalled it right after testing result.

2020 update: While I've been a loyal Navit user for over a dozen years, I've got to say I'm sorely disappointed with how it's worked (or, more to the point, not worked) over the past year. Truly a shame that what had been by far the best offline navigation app is no longer a viable option.

I really like navit. It is the only map app that respects your privacy. The map rendering is too slow on Android for full 5 stars. The UI is like old sat navs and needs modernisation, but instead of giving poor reviews why not contribute yourself and make it better for everyone?
